Free Parking:

Free parking will be made available to Conference participants at East 2 Staff Parking, Macquarie University, this parking area is a two minute walk to 1 Wally’s Walk (Conference location). Anyone using the Hospital underground carpark will incur parking fees.

MUH Staff:

MUH & MQ Health Staff attending the conference who have campus parking permits are asked to please park on campus in their permit area. For attendees who are unable to park in the allocated permit spaces on campus, please note there is free parking on both sides of Talavera Road (down from the roundabout near the Mercure Hotel (formerly Travelodge) up to Culloden Road.

An approach to soft tissue in lower limb reconstruction

The provision of stable soft tissue support is vital in ensuring endurance, stability and functionality in lower limb reconstruction. This talk will outline the approach to providing soft tissue cover to the lower limb using the reconstructive ladder. The lowest rung of the ladder is the simplest option - primary closure, whilst at the top of the ladder - the use complex and staged microsurgical flaps can provide solutions to the most difficult defects. The importance of a team approach and careful operative and postoperative planning is vital. Patients who undergo complex soft tissue reconstruction also require rehabilitation, oedema control and scar management. We should always strive to engage, empower and inform both patients and their carers as they progress through their treatment.
